Activities Program in Costa Rica

We offer an incredible Activities Program in Costa Rica. You will enjoy different type of activities: excursions, outings, to visit historical buildings, where you will have the opportunity to interact with local people and practice your Spanish.

The Activities Program includes several visits to many of the sites and natural treasures that make Costa Rica unique. Tour guides are professional, trained to work with Spanish students. Besides giving information, they encourage the learning and practice of the language. The Cultural Activities Program is arranged after classes, any weekday and also on weekends. The cultural activities program is arranged by the school. Many of activities and excursions are free. Some of them have a small fee for entrance fees or transportation costs.

This program is a very good opportunity for a comprehensive cultural approach to our culture and the perfect way to complement your classroom learning. Different kind of excursions and outings. Trips to nearby cities, beaches, and different places. Cooking classes, salsa lessons, city tours.

We arrange weekly trips to areas in or around the city to explore the richness of the local area while offering additional opportunities to learn Spanish. It provides further opportunities for you to learn about our country while increasing your fluency. Activities are structured by our guide and are beneficial to all the students at all levels.

We arrange different kind of activities all over the week and also on weekends. Students can ask us about activities, trips, excursions, etc, and will be informed at the school about the exact contents and timetable of each activity programmed for the week.

We offer the following activities (some examples):
- Trip to the scenic Orosi valley featuring some spectacular sights of the Reventazón river.
- Visit to a "beneficio" (a coffee processing plant), where you will learn the secrets of coffee's lifecycle, from plantation to cup, in a journey through the working plantation and roastery.
- Trip to the towns of Grecia and Sarchí, where typical souvenirs made of Costa Rican hardwoods are produced, including the hand painted oxcarts.
- Visit to the city of San José including the National Museum, the University of Costa Rica and main neighborhoods.
- Tour to the city of Cartago and the Lankester Gardens. Over 500 varieties of orchids and many other exotic tropical plants are cultivated in this botanical garden. Students will also visit the Basilica de los Angeles where hundreds of thousands of Costa Ricans make a pilgrimage every August.
- Visit to the picturesque town of Escazú and surrounding areas.
- Visit to the colorful Central Market, where everything like tasty, traditional food, medicinal plants, leather accessories and souvenirs can be found. The tour also includes a walk through downtown's main boulevard and a visit to the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, where an extraordinary collection of 1600 pieces of Pre-Columbian gold work that date from 500 AD to 1500 AD can be seen.
- Visit to a butterfly farm in La Guácima that has over a thousand butterflies living their lives, feeding, mating and laying eggs in an enclosed tropical garden.
- Trip to Poás volcano, with a crater that is 1,050 feet (320 meters) deep and almost a mile (1.6 km) across. It's the largest active crater in the world.
- Trip to breathtaking Irazú volcano, via the coffee plantations of Curridabat and Tres Ríos. - Visit to Braulio Carrillo rain forest, one of the most extensive national parks in the country and home to more than 500 species of birds, 6000 species of trees and plants and over 135 species of animals.
